Strauss' Alpine Symphony & Alpine Literature with Hans Sigl
in the Great Festival Hall

“That is my personal concert highlight of this year: To give a concert together with the Philharmonie Salzburg and Elisabeth Fuchs on the stage in the Großer Festspielhaus. Alpine symphony & Alpine literature in concert, this has never happened before and it will be an experience! ", so the "Bergdoktor" TV star Hans Sigl about his appearance on October 9th in the Großer Festspielhaus.

Richard Strauss sets in his symphonic poem "An Alpine Symphony” a full-day Hike in the mountains musically in scene. From the Sunrise, hiking by the stream, at the waterfall on the alpine meadows, through the forest to the experiences on the glacier and the general danger on the mountain as well as thunderstorms and storms to the descent and the sunset - everything that includes climbing the summit is included.

But it was probably only partly the composer's intention to depict a mountain hike. The hiking trail described by Strauss can be seen as a symphonic representation of a human life. In this regard, the composer was inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy.

Chief Conductor Elisabeth Fuchs represents the expressive music alpine poetry to the side - next to the great poets and thinkers like Rainer Maria Rilke, Hermann Hesse, Georg Trakl, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and CG Jung come also mountain pioneers like Helma Schimke, Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, the Huber-Buam and the Buddhist poets and yogi Milarepa to speak.

Music and Text occur in concert in reciprocal Dialogue, in some places the Alpine Symphony can also be heard almost as a "melodrama".

The reading takes over the TV show known as the "Mountain Doctor"Star Hans Sigl.
