Family Concert · Hungarian Dances – Brahms for Kids
Good evening, good night - Brahms' most famous work
Life is not always a bed of roses: the composer Johannes Brahms, who was born in Hamburg in 1833, realized that early on. Even as a teenager he had to perform as a pianist (piano player) in dance halls to earn money for his family. There were no casting shows back then, so Johannes Brahms hoped to be discovered – and sure enough, the composer Robert Schumann recognized his talent and ensured that Brahms became a superstar at the age of only 20. The star composer lived in Vienna for many years. There we meet Brahms, who likes to eat a lot, in his favorite restaurant, the Gasthaus Zum Roten Igel, where the curious waitress Marie reveals many a secret about him.
