Mahler's Resurrection Symphony & Gulda's Cello Concerto
Music from the masters at the place of creation
“The work must be reborn in every performance.”
- Gustav Mahler
For the first time, Mahler's monumental Resurrection Symphony will be heard with a full choir and orchestra at the place where the majority of the symphony was created - Steinbach am Attersee. Life and death, the Last Judgment and the Resurrection are the powerful motifs that permeate this musical masterpiece.
Friedrich Gulda's cello concerto, written almost 100 years later in Weißenbach, is a declaration of love for the Salzkammergut. It is a virtuosic and humorous journey through various musical genres, which you can also experience this evening with the exceptional young talent Emilian Schmid on the cello.
