Metamorphoses & Seasons
with Cornelia Löscher
Antonio Vivaldi, Max Richter and Richard Strauss
Great University Hall, Salzburg

“Cornelia Loescher narrated the tonal content of the 'Four Seasons' with rhetorical perfection... Impossible to describe all the details! Every nuance a deliberately designed highlight. Jewels all phrases in exchange with the concertmaster and the solo cellist!” - Horst Reischenböck on the violin soloist.

The "Four Seasons" are probably one of the most frequently performed pieces of Baroque music. In each concert Antonio Vivaldi portrayed a season. Together with the soloist Cornelia Loescher, the Salzburg Philharmonic brings autumn and winter to the performance.

It is said that the sight of the destroyed Munich in 1945 inspired Richard Strauss to compose the “Metamorphoses”. It is a resigned but also comforting and voluptuous work, an emotional interplay between darkening and brightening. With "November" by the British composer Max Richter, Elisabeth Fuchs rounds off the concert evening with a moving contemporary work.
