Under the guidance of our Chief Conductor Elisabeth Fuchs Let's start with a frontier worker and one of the best and most versatile instrumentalists of the present in January 2019!

Andreas Martin Hofmeir, one of the best and most versatile instrumentalists of the present, is a crossover between different genres: The 1978 born in Munich musician was a founding member and tuba of the Bavarian cult band LaBrassBanda, is now a professor at the Mozarteum Salzburg and received both as a cabaret artist and as a classical tuba player numerous awards. He is an author and showmaster, a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, and gives masterclasses and workshops worldwide.

Many sympathetic people from Munich are familiar with his performances with the brass band LaBrassBanda. But at the latest since he received the ECHO as best instrumentalist 2013, he has conquered the hearts of the classic world by his virtuosity, barefoot.

With the  Tuba concert by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams from the year 1954 he plays one of the most important works of this musical form. At first, the tuba concert by Vaughan Williams was a curiosity, but quickly it has established itself as one of his favorite works and laid the foundation for their own tuba repertoire.

ECHO success 2013 - Jörg Duda recording with the Philharmonie Salzburg
The Munich-born composer and musician Jörd Duda wrote two tuba concerts. Both were performed by Andreas Hofmeir with various orchestras (since 2010). Among other things, 2013 was awarded the ECHO Klassik by Hofmeir for his recording of the first tuba concert by Jörg Duda.
Noteworthy: The accompanying orchestra at that time was the Philharmonie Salzburg: Fancy a small audition?

The Enigma Variations of 1898, an orchestral work by the British composer Edward Elgar, made him known internationally. They describe 14 people from their environment.

The American composer Samuel Barber composed 1938 Adagio for strings. The piece for a string orchestra is considered Barber's most popular composition. 2004 was Adagio for strings voted the "saddest classic piece" by the BBC listeners. So it's getting emotional!

Program
Samuel BARBER · Adagio for Strings
Ralph Vaughan WILLIAMS · Tuba Concerto, F minor
Jörg DUDA · Concerto No. 1 for tuba and orchestra
Edward ELGAR · Enigma Variations, op. 36
