This program is a sonorous journey through the diverse musical landscapes of America: with George Gershwin and Glenn Miller, iconic representatives of American jazz and blues are on the program. On the saxophone, soloist Severin Neubauer delights with pieces such as Waignein's Rhapsody for saxophone, an abridged version of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and the Hawaiian one-hit wonder Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Dvořák's 9th Symphony, which is set in the cultural context of the USA, rounds off the listening experience in classical style: it reflects the Czech composer's experiences during his three-year stay in New York City at the end of the 19th century.
