Masterpieces by Johannes Brahms
Ariane Haering plays Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1
And he has come, a young blood, whose cradle was guarded by graces and heroes.
– Robert Schumann on Johannes Brahms
J. BRAHMS · Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor, Op. 15
J. BRAHMS · Symphony No. 3 in F major, Op. 90
It is a tribute to one of Germany's greatest Romantics when renowned Swiss pianist Ariane Haering joins forces with the Salzburg Philharmonic and Elisabeth Fuchs to perform Brahms First Piano Concerto. With the premiere of this passionate and monumental work in 1859, Brahms set new standards, because never before had a piano concerto unfolded such symphonic power and emotional depth. Twenty-six years later, the composer created an equally concentrated and moving legacy with his fourth and last symphony, which brings the evening to an impressive close.
