For its 25th anniversary, the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra and its 200-strong choir are playing a brilliant concert in the Great Festival Hall. The program includes two works that couldn't be more different: Richard Strauss' masterful symphonic poem A Hero's Life, a work of perfection in leitmotifs with perfectly interwoven musical quotations from Beethoven's Eroica, Rossini's Wilhelm Tell and Strauss' Also Spoke Zarathustra, will be featured in the first be heard as part of the concert. After the break, Karl Jenkins' award-winning global hit Adiemus - Songs of Sanctuary will be heard, in which harmonious choral singing and orchestral sound merge and create a magical sound using African language syllables and drum rhythms.
