ANNIVERSARY CONCERT · Held:inner life & Adiemus
25 years Philharmonie Salzburg & conductor Elisabeth Fuchs
Strauss' heroic life & Jenkins' Adiemus
R. STRAUSS · A hero's life, op. 40
K.JENKINS · Goodbye
For the 25th anniversary, the Salzburg Philharmonic, together with its 200-strong choir and dance acrobat Jasmin Rituper, is playing a brilliant concert in the Great Festival Hall. The program features two works that could not be more different: Richard Strauss's masterful symphonic poem Ein Heldenleben, a work of perfection in terms of leitmotifs with perfectly interwoven musical quotations from Beethoven's Eroica, Rossini's Wilhelm Tell and Strauss' Also Sprach Zarathustra, wird im Erste be heard as part of the concert. After the break, Karl Jenkins' multiple award-winning world hit Adiemus - Songs of Sanctuary can be heard, in which harmonious choir singing and orchestral sound merge and create a magical sound using African language syllables and drum rhythms.
