"Education is not filling casks, it is lighting flames." (Heraclitus)

How does that sound to you? You want to gain theoretical knowledge about music. You don't just want to read about this theory or have it lectured. You want to experience theory! You mean that is not possible?

A strong: BUT THAT'S GOING!

Lecture concept by chief conductor Elisabeth Fuchs at the University of Salzburg

Under the direction of Conductor Elisabeth Fuchs offers in the winter semester 2018 / 19 at the University of Salzburg the chance to learn theoretical fundamentals in practice through concerts.

Part of the "UV Music Science" interactive is the visit of two concerts of the Philharmonie Salzburg, conducted by lecturer Elisabeth Fuchs. The concept of the course is built around the two concert performances attended. Based on these musical impressions, students of the University of Salzburg learn the contents of music history, musicology and instrumentation.

What you should bring as a student? An open mind and interest. Previous musical knowledge is not a requirement for attending the course.

“Anyone who knows me knows how important music education is to me. That is why I am particularly pleased to be teaching so many interested and open-minded young people at the University of Salzburg. After this semester, the students should be able to classify the most famous composers and their main works in the respective musical epoch. I explain the most important orchestral instruments and their special features as well as general basics in music theory - notes, intervals, rhythm, basic harmonies. " (Elisabeth Fox)
