Beethoven's Ninth in the Elbphilharmonie
Anniversary concert: 35 years of German unity
Beethoven grasps the whole, round, complex human nature within himself. Never has a musician known more and experienced more of the harmony of the spheres, the harmony of God's nature, than Beethoven.

L. v. BEETHOVEN - Symphony No. 9, op. 125
Together with its large choir, the Philharmonie Salzburg embarks on a journey to one of the most impressive and modern concert halls in the world. In the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the orchestra, conducted by Elisabeth Fuchs, presents one of the most monumental works in music history: Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th Symphony. The orchestra and choir are joined by the outstanding soloists Ursula Langmayr (soprano), Christa Ratzenböck (alto), Bernhard Berchtold (tenor) and Rafael Fingerlos (bass), whose powerful voices make the famous choral part Ode to Joy an unforgettable experience. The 9th Symphony stands for the universal longing for peace and human unity. With the performance of this magnum opus, the Philharmonie Salzburg is setting an example of the unbroken topicality of Beethoven's work and the importance of music as a unifying force across all borders.
