Constanze Quartet of the Salzburg Philharmonic

The musical paths of the four musicians of the Constanze Quartet, who come from southern Europe, were all to be brought together in the small but unique music metropolis of Salzburg. The birthplace of Mozart with its unmistakable classic flair became the ideal artistic breeding ground for the different temperaments from France, Spain, Italy and Germany to find a common musical language.

The resulting interpretations, which with their Mediterranean charm are captivating, fresh and soulful at the same time, inspire both listeners and viewers time and time again.
After a successful live appearance at Radio France in Paris in 2018, another success followed with the placement as a finalist in the chamber music competition “Eugène Ysaÿe” in Liège. Last November, the quartet won 3rd prize at the international Anton Rubinstein competition in Düsseldorf.

You can also look forward to the first CD production of the young ensemble in collaboration with the German label CPO. For the first time, there is a complete recording of all string quartets by Felix Draeseke, a German composer and representative of the Neudeutschen Schule, as well as contemporaries by Franz Liszt, Richard Wagner and Johannes Brahms.
The quartet was influenced by Austrian tradition at various master classes and artists such as the Casals Quartet, Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), William Coleman (Kuss Quartet), Milan Milojicic (Minetti Quartet), Lavard Skou-Larsen, Christoph Schlüren including other suggestions and impulses.
The ensemble's repertoire encompasses all genres, but focuses on as yet undiscovered composers from past eras. The Constanze Quartet is a regular guest in the marble hall of Mirabell Palace in Salzburg and has been invited several times to guest appearances and tours at festivals in Europe and America.
