Dvořák's "From the New World" & Grieg's Piano Concerto
A musical journey from the fjords to America
E. GRIEG - Piano Concerto in A minor, op. 16
A. DVOŘÁK - Symphony No. 9, "From the New World"
With its mixture of German Romanticism and Norwegian folklore, Grieg's piano concerto not only delighted audiences at the time. Franz Liszt was also fascinated by the Nordic dance-like tone and the lush melodic arcs: a musical excursion into the Scandinavian expanse and atmospheric natural landscapes. Afterwards, another Romantic masterpiece will be heard when the audience is transported to the "New World" of America with Dvořák's 9th Symphony, where the Czech composer found inspiration for his composition.
