That was the Children's Festival Week 2025
Around 6,050 children flocked to Hall 2 of the Exhibition Center between 23 June and 2 July to listen to the musical story of Bedřich Smetana's "The Moldau". They were joined by actor Frederic Böhle, conductor Elisabeth Fuchs and acrobat Jasmin Rituper, who guided the elementary and kindergarten children through the story with verve and ease.
Singing, dancing and rapping were on the interactive program - before the young concertgoers were captivated by the complete symphonic poem for 13 minutes at the end.
The musical material was prepared and rehearsed in a total of 350 workshops together with musicians from the Philharmonie Salzburg. This included trying out instruments, making ships, singing and clapping - a playful approach to the sound world of Smetana's monumental work.
Families also got their money's worth: over 2,200 visitors experienced the concert on the weekend of June 28 and 29 at five performances - this time enhanced by actress Eva Hinterreithner. Around the concerts, a colorful supporting program invited visitors to join in and linger: face painting for children, craft stations, culinary offerings and various themed tents related to the Vltava provided an atmospheric festival ambience.
And to ensure that the experience lingers on for a long time, all the children were given a specially produced CD of "Die Moldau" by the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra to take home with them.
