Monika Gruber Symphonic - Christmas program
A wild ride through Bavarian humor, comedy classics, and Christmas (fairy tale) music awaited the audience at the five shows of the Advent program "Monika Gruber Symphonic." Sometimes as a schnapps-drinking angel, sometimes as a teasing wife in a time-lapse of marriage, "die Gruaberin" elicited loud laughter from the audience from the very first minute. She received charming support in one or two sketches from her cabaret colleague Gernot Haas, who made a particular impression in his Karl Lagerfeld costume – always in symbiosis with the sounds of the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra, which provided the obligatory romantic Christmas atmosphere with Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker and Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel. In addition to great emotions and loud laughter, there was also room for quiet, thoughtful tones: Gruber read from village chronicles, quoted Erich Kästner, and sang "Es wird scho glei dumpa" reverently with soprano Katharina Gudmundsson. The balance between humor and contemplation was so harmonious that at the end of the show, the artists were faced with a moved and amused audience.
