The Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra celebrated its 25th anniversary yesterday, October 12, with a ceremony in the Salzburg Kulisse and a brilliant anniversary concert in the Grosses Festspielhaus. Over the past two weeks, the orchestra musicians of the Philharmonie Salzburg have held 350 workshops for school classes and kindergarten groups on Sergei Prokofiev's musical fairy tale "Peter and the Wolf" in Zell am See and the provincial capital, opening the door to the world of classical music for many children. 8,500 children were able to pick up an orchestral instrument for the first time and try it out under professional guidance.
Over the past six weeks, almost eighty children and young people between the ages of seven and 18 have put their heart and soul into rehearsing a colorful potpourri of classical orchestral pieces as well as pop and film music with seven professional musicians from the Philharmonie Salzburg and Elisabeth Fuchs .
More than 4,000 schoolchildren and apprentices attended the Philharmonie Salzburg concerts in the Grosses Festspielhaus today.
